SDS-Concept Module 1
The SDS-Concept works with what you already carry: a pen, a bottle, a phone, a bag. Instead of special weapons, it teaches seven defined grips, clear usage positions and the twelve attacking angles — a small set of transferable principles that survive stress. Module 1 is a complete, teachable foundation: object handling, block drills, striking with objects, releases from grabs and chokes, plus two full instructor modules.
Seven grips, clear positions, twelve angles — with what you already carry.
Was du mitnimmst
Gain the ability to assess various environments and situations, applying self-defense strategies that are effective and relevant, no matter the context.
Develop a deep understanding of self-defense principles that empower you to make informed decisions and confidently navigate potentially dangerous situations.
Das Problem
You find it challenging to translate techniques learned in training to real-life situations, leaving you unsure how to respond effectively under pressure.
You often question your ability to defend yourself, which affects your confidence and readiness to act during potential threats.
You worry about not having the right everyday objects on hand when facing a threat, making it hard to practice and apply techniques confidently.
Die Antwort
Engage in realistic scenario-based training modules that allow you to practice SDS techniques in a controlled, virtual environment, enhancing your confidence and decision-making skills.

SDS is built around objects that are legal, ordinary and already in your hand or pocket — nothing to acquire, nothing to explain.
The system runs on principles rather than technique catalogues, which is why beginners reach a usable level quickly and under pressure.
SDS attaches to what you do: the twelve angles, the grips and the interception logic extend Krav Maga, Core Defense or any striking background.
Two instructor modules cover teaching principles, body mechanics, flexible objects, the choke chain and advanced training structure.

How certification works here
Unlike most online courses, this one does not end with watching: you submit videos, you get personal feedback, and you finish with a real examination.
Work through the chapters one by one and build a solid understanding of the concepts, drills and techniques of the system.
For selected chapters you submit short videos demonstrating the required material.
A certified SAMI-X instructor reviews your submission and gives you concrete recommendations for improvement.
Once your assignments are complete, you take the official examination.
On successful completion you receive your official SAMI SDS-Concept Module 1 certificate.

SAMI SDS-Concept Module 1 — Instructor
Voraussetzung
Student certification, instructor assignments and a successful instructor examination.

Use simple, safe everyday objects that allow controlled practice.
The focus is not on the object itself, but on principles, grips, body mechanics, and structure.

No. The course is structured so that no prior experience is required. Everything is explained step by step.

The course is suitable for complete beginners with no prior experience, as well as advanced martial artists, instructors, and professionals.
Beginners benefit from the clear structure and immediate applicability, while advanced practitioners use the SDS-Concept as a realistic and effective extension of their existing systems.

The course teaches transferable principles that work with many different objects.
The focus is not on the object itself, but on its functional use as a strike or pressure amplifier.

Yes. Module 1 provides a complete and functional foundation of the SDS-Concept.
Additional modules expand and deepen the system but are not required to apply SDS effectively.

That is completely normal. Rewatch the chapter, reduce speed, and focus on fundamentals and structure. SDS is not about complexity—it is about function and clarity.

Begin with the first chapters in the recommended order. Module 1 is structured to first build system understanding and fundamentals before moving into applications. Take your time—understanding the principles is essential for everything that follows.

No. The SDS-Concept is deliberately not tied to special weapons.
Training is based on everyday objects that are discreet, legal, and always available. Tools such as Kubotan, Yawara, or tactical pens can be used optionally, but they are not required.

Originally, SDS stood for Self Defense Stick and described a training concept centered around simple impact tools such as the Kubotan or Yawara.
Today, SDS no longer represents a single tool, but a universal self-protection concept based on transferable principles that work with a wide variety of everyday objects.
The name remained — the system evolved.

Yes. The SDS-Concept is a stand-alone self-protection system, while also being highly effective as an add-on to existing martial arts or self-defense systems.

The SDS-Concept can be taught starting from Module 1, provided you wish to become a SAMI license holder.
Module 1 is intentionally comprehensive and already provides a complete, practical foundation for teaching.

Yes. Most of Module 1 is designed for solo training.
Partner work and pad training are useful additions but not required to make progress.

Yes. Teaching is allowed from Module 1 onward if you are a SAMI license holder.
Without a license, the content may be used for personal training only.

Yes. Many exercises and concepts are designed for solo training. Optional partner exercises are included but not mandatory.

Quality is more important than quantity.
Short, focused sessions (e.g., 15–30 minutes) practiced regularly are more effective than infrequent long sessions.

No. The Kubotan is used as a reference tool, not a requirement.
All concepts are designed to be transferable to many different objects.

Focus on:

stable base and positioning

clean grips

controlled movement

calm breathing

If something feels unclear or unstable, slow down and simplify.

Module 1 is designed as an online instructor module.
Many sessions serve as examples of how to structure, explain, and train SDS content in classes.

Yes. The system is not dependent on strength or athletic ability. By using strike and pressure amplifiers, effective results can be achieved without relying on physical superiority.

Yes, this is recommended. Many topics build on each other, especially grips, positions, distance, and safety principles. Individual tutorials can later be revisited as needed.

You have access to the course content as long as you have a valid account on our platform.

The course consists of clearly structured video modules that build logically on each other. All content is explained in a practical way and focused on real-world application.

You have access to the course content as long as you have a valid account on our platform.
During this time, you can access all materials at any time.

Clearly for real life. The system was developed to work under real conditions, not just in a training environment.

The content is structured so you can immediately integrate the SDS-Concept into your training or real-world self-protection situations. The focus is on fast implementation rather than long technical learning phases.

The training emphasizes proportionate self-protection and the responsible use of everyday objects that are generally legal.
The course does not replace legal advice but strongly focuses on realism, responsibility, and appropriate use.

In the SDS-Concept, principles come before techniques.
Once you understand the principles, techniques become adaptable and situational.

After completing Module 1, you can:

continue with additional SDS modules

access instructor modules

combine SDS with other SAMI systems
